Silver River Pinot Noir 2020

$98.00

From the really great vintages we produce a small amount of Silver River Pinot Noir to showcase this fruit. Vintage 2020 was a GREAT vintage for Martinborough!

Each parcel is treated individually in the winery, fermented in a range of 1 – 2 ton open topped fermenters. We don’t, necessarily, employ high levels of “whole bunch“ fermentation. However, in the instance of a strong, balanced vintage we certainly employ some! In this instance around 20% whole clusters were used.

Heck of a mouthful and a pretty serious wine! Drinking well and plenty to enjoy about its character as it drinks today. Strongly recommend decanting prior to drinking. Another 5 – 10 years in the cellar will certainly reward patience.

Winemaker Note

Vibrant Ruby tones with a nice unfiltered appearance.

The perfume is violets, sweet roses, cooked strawberry and red cherry yoghurt. Can smell some really positive developing secondary aromas suggesting forest floor, underbrush, dried mushroom & decaying autumnal leaves, even a little sultana and dried fig. Certainly not wanting for character and interest!

A nice and fat and soft Pinot Noir belly here! Rich character and very full of flavour. Very fine grain polished tannins, delicate oak usage showing excellent integration. Flavours of pomegranate pith, cranberry, cranberry skin, and sweet liquorice on the finish.
